The movie was set in Poland during World War II. Oskar Schindler becomes concerned with his Jewish workforce as he saw their persecution by the Nazis. This movie meant a lot to Spielberg because he comes from a Jewish family.
As a successful and wealthy filmmaker, Spielberg decided that a story as important as Schindler’s List should not be a source of wealth. Spielberg rejected his salary for the movie. With the profits of the movie, Spielberg funded two organizations: the Shoah Foundation and the Righteous Persons Foundation. |
